Brighton and Hove’s Wildlife Forum formed out of the need to coordinate city wide efforts in preserving and enhancing nature. We meet every two months either online or in the Booth Museum on a Tuesday evening where we discuss wildlife in our local areas, swap recent information about the groups, and learn about proposed plans by the council. We also regularly share updates on local walks, talks, conservation workdays and campaigns to get involved with, and coordinate efforts on city wide nature projects.
BHWF puts its emphasis on playing an active part in efforts to preserve and restore nature in Brighton and Hove (and beyond). A great deal of our time is spent responding to planning proposals and engaging in practical conservation, and supporting others to do so. We have contact with Brighton and Hove City Council and advise them on wildlife issues and encourage ‘best practice’ for management of our open spaces.
